Texas Truckers at the Capitol

In the slowing economy, Texans are finding that they can make do with less.

Layoffs are only part of the plan to save money. Representatives from the Texas Motor Transportation Association and Southwest Movers Association spent time in Capitol offices February 12 asking Texas lawmakers to ease up on profit and fuel taxes.

Industry representatives hope the combination of safety and efforts by lawmakers to make the load easier for truckers will avert more layoffs.
