Southeast Engine: ‘Black Gold’

The locals in Ohio simply call this four-piece, ‘the Engine.’ The band, Southeast Engine, hails from Athens, Ohio, but claim that their spirit is much more suited to Austin.

The band is set to release their fourth album in a couple of weeks, and they’ll be joining us in town during March’s SXSW Music Conference. The new LP, called From the Forest to the Sea, was recorded in a forsaken, 1800s high school auditorium in the hills of Stewart, Ohio. The band taped the sessions live directly to analog tape, and turned those tapes into the album, without overdubs or filters.

This tune is a standout track from the new record (fit with ‘Stones inspired ‘hoo-hoos’ in the background). It’s called ‘Black Gold.’
