Mardi Gras Street Closures

Several streets were scheduled to be closed in downtown Austin, in preparation for February 24th’s Mardi Gras celebrations.

East 6th St. would be closed between Brazos St. and the I-35 Frontage Road from 7:00 p.m. February 24 to 3:00 a.m. February 25.

East 6th St. from the I-35 Frontage Road to San Marcos St. would close between 9:00 p.m. February 24 and 3:00 a.m. on Ash Wednesday.

All cross streets between East 5th and East 7th would be included in the closure.

Neches St. was be scheduled to closed between East 6th and East 7th from 6:00 p.m. February 24 to 4:00 a.m. February 25.

Southbound I-35 Frontage Road between East 5th and East 6th would close at 9:00 p.m. on Fat Tuesday and reopen at 4:00 a.m. February 25.

I-35 frontage road turnarounds between East 4th and East 5th would be closed from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

The following exit ramps were scheduled to close periodically during the festivities:

6th St./8th St. (northbound & southbound) Cesar Chavez St.
