Levy Not Running for Mayor
Former Texas Monthly Publisher Mike Levy said his mother's recent death was a factor in his decision.
Levy had been researching the possibility of a mayoral run since September.
“I thought I had a pretty good chance of winning. It was viable. But you know not only could I win, but then you have to say to yourself, could I serve effectively? And when the wind is out of you, it’s hard to think about that,” said Levy.
He said he thinks local government is out of touch with the needs and interests of the community. Levy said he was interested in prioritizing basic city services such as public safety and libraries. 5 candidates have officially announced their run for the May 9th mayoral election.
