Is Austin Shifting From Chip Making?
People who work at local chip maker Spansion were dealt a bombshell on Monday. Hundreds of employees at the company's Austin facilities were laid off without severance pay.
Some see the Spansion job cuts as a sign that Austin may be slowly shifting away from chip manufacturing.
