Texas-based songwriter and guitarist Ruthie Foster lived up to the title of 2007’s triumphant, Papa Mali-produced The Phenomenal Ruthie Foster. That album dropped Foster’s primary folk associations for a stone soul outing, and this year’s The Truth According to… explores an even wider variety of genres, with Grammy-winning guitar wiz Robben Ford and legendary producer/pianist Jim Dickinson.
