As a Texas record producer and sideman to Lucinda Williams, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Blaze Foley and many others, Gurf Morlix has his name stamped on countless recording and song credits. But Morlix has always made real music magic in his own songwriting chair. Gurf’s latest, Last Exit to Happyland is a solid follow-up to 2007’s Diamonds to Dust, featuring guests Patty Griffin and Ruthie Foster enhancing the rootsy, rough-hewn solo work.
