Effluent Could Flow Into Barton Springs

The permit will allow direct discharge of effluent into a creek that flows into the Barton Springs part of the Edwards Aquifer.

A vote expected February 25 on treated sewage water will give permission to a developer in South Austin to discharge into a creek within the Barton Springs Recharge Zone. This would be the first time a developer is allowed to discharge treated sewage directly into a contributing creek. The provision have been added to the permit
