East Austin Neighborhood Seeks Historical Designation

Four years ago, the City of Austin created the "local historic district designation." It allows zoning to help preserve areas of historical significance.

So far only one block in West Austin has received the designation. But now an East Austin Neighborhood has the funds they say they need to protect their neighborhood against a wave of development.
