Song of the Day

Band of Heathens: ‘Jackson Station’

February 20, 2009 5:00 am by: Andrew Uhler

The Band of Heathens never meant to be a ‘band’ at all. The principle songwriters, Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist were sharing the bill at Momo‘s every Wednesday night. So, they thought, ‘why don’t we share the stage and work together?’ And the rest is history…at least recent history.

After recording two live CDs, the band finally produced an eponymous studio effort this past year. And the albeit delayed studio effort has garnered the band lots of acclaim. It spent a number of weeks on top 5 of the Americana chart.

The band was kind enough to drop by KUT a few weeks back. And today’s song of the day is a tune from that session.

It’s called ‘Jackson Station.’
