Song of the Day

Andrew Bird: ‘Natural Disaster’

February 25, 2009 5:00 am by: Andrew Uhler

Just a few weeks ago, Chicago multi-instrumentalist Andrew Bird put together a truly engaging show at Austin’s Paramount Theater. The event sold out months in advance, but Bird was kind enough to drop by KUT the day of the performance to perform some of the tunes he’d been working on for the night’s set.

The result is a beautiful example of Bird’s imaginative songwriting – full of loops, violin and, of course, some wonderful whistling.

Today’s song of the day is a sprawling number that originally appears on Bird’s new album, Noble Beast.

It’s called ‘Natural Disaster‘.

And if you missed Bird’s performance at The Paramount, stay tuned to KUT to learn about another opportunity to see the artist in person at this year’s SXSW.
