AISD Names Superintendent Finalist

February 26, 2009 10:00 am by: KUT Staff

In a unanimous vote February 26, trustees with the Austin Independent School District have named Dr. Meria Carstarphen as the only finalist to be the district’s next superintendent.

Carstarphen is currently school superintendent in St. Paul, Minnesota.

By state law, the finalist cannot be formally offered the job for at least 21 days after being named.

Carstarphen would succeed Dr. Pascal Forgione, who announced he would retire at the end of his current contract in June. Forgione has led AISD for the past 10 years.
