Robert Gomez: “On This Day”
Robert Gomez started playing guitar at the age of seven, in his native Brownsville, Texas. He continued his studies into his teenage years, eventually enrolling in the prestigious University of North Texas Jazz program.
But Gomez gave up on the jazz scene and, after a six month stint in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, he began writing pop songs.
And though Gomez is grounded in his pop sensibility, there’s no denying the complex underpinnings of these tunes.
This song, called ‘On This Day,’ is a song that will appear on Gomez’s sophomore album, Pine Sticks and Phosphorus, which comes out in March.
