Less Gym, More Running

Starting a new year in an old slow economy is pushing people to cut costs, including the cost of staying fit. More people are leaving the gym to go for a run outside.

New gym memberships are apparently sagging, even with offers including no enrollment fees. At Planet Fitness business is slow, and their offer is only 20 dollars a month, with unlimited tanning. Meanwhile, running shoe sales are running higher than ever.
