Hooked on Mack

The Texas Longhorns take on Ohio State January 5, 2009, in the Fiesta Bowl.

Enthusiasm for this UT bowl appearance is less than for past bowl games. Some fans are still sour about the outcome in both the Big 12 Conference and the B-C-S system that kept Texas out of the national championship game. But no matter what happens with the team, Head Coach Mack Brown has a loyal following. Among them – Austin writer and commentator Mary Gordon Spence. Brown has already been named Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year. And Mary Gordon Spence says Brown should also win the Paul “Bear” Bryant College Football Coach of the Year award for lots of reasons.
