Doyle Bramhall II Performs Tonight at Antone’s

January 9, 2009 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

So, it’s true that the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. Doyle Bramhall II grew up around the blues and rock because of his dad, who used to be a drummer for legendary blues artist Lightning Hopkins, and also worked with Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. It’s bound to rub off on you. Young Doyle soaked it all up.

While still a teenager, Bramhall formed the band Arc Angels with his buddy Charlie Sexton. Eventually, he moved on to writing more solo material, but still has the occasional Arc Angels gig.

This time, you can see D.B. II tonight at Antone’s, 213 W. 5th St. He’ll be performing with Gary Clark, Jr., J.J. Johnson, and Larry Fulcher. Opening the show will be Jeremy Nail and The Incidents.
