Covering the Drug War Hits Home for Brownsville News Director

The national and international media have given some attention to the violence associated with the ongoing drug war in Mexico.

But local TV, papers, and radio stations all along the border live with the repercussions of the drug violence daily, as it spills across the U.S. border. Jenny Martinez is the News Director of TV station KRGV in Brownsville. When she spoke from Brownsville, she said the problems started for her station when they started broadcasting stories about the drug cartels.
