Barry Unsworth Comes To Austin

The Booker Prize winning writer Barry Unsworth speak at the "Harry Ransom Center":http://www.hrc.utexas.edu/ Monday January 26, 2009 at 7 p.m.

Unsworth’s latest novel, “Land of Marvels” weaves historical fiction into a story set in 1914 Baghdad. The world is on the verge of war, as British and German forces vie for control. Control over land, and more importantly oil. Unsworth spoke with KUT’s Julie Moody and says current events in the Middle East gave him some inspiration for his latest work.
