Balmorhea: “Settler”

January 22, 2009 5:00 am by: Andrew Uhler

Balmorhea (pronounced Bal-moor-ay) started as the brain child of Michael Muller and Rob Lowe, a couple of incredibly gifted multi-instrumentalists from Austin. Today the band boasts Muller and Lowe along with a violinist (Aisha Burns), cellist (Nicole Kern) and a double bass player (Travis Chapman), and their highly visual, almost cinematic sounds have been garnering tons of attention nationwide.

The band has a new album hitting record stores in March, but they’ve given KUT permission to share an unreleased track with our listeners.

This tune is called ‘Settler,’ and it will appear on the new Balmorhea album, All Is Wild, All Is Silent, set for release on March 10th.

Also, check out the wonderful video of Balmorhea on KUT’s Retread Sessions recorded at the Blanton Art Museum.
