The Silent Years: “On Our Way Home”

December 11, 2008 5:00 am by: Andrew Uhler

A true DIY band in almost every sense of the word (from crafting their CDs and producing all the artwork), Detroit’s The Silent Years meld the sweet sounding influence of Jeff Buckley and Elliot Smith with the indie rock of Sunny Day Real Estate and Death Cab for Cutie.

And though they’ve only been around since 2004, The Silent Years has already received some national recognition from Spin magazine and the LA Times.

This tune, called “On Our Way Home” features the pure sounding voice of lead singer Josh Epstein. The song builds throughout, adding strings here and drums there, until it explodes in full power pop goodness.
