Reverend Horton Heat Brings In New Year at La Zona Rosa

December 31, 2008 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

If you’ve not yet experienced the legendary performances of the Reverend Horton Heat, prepare yourself. The Rev, a.k.a. Jim Heath, is a fireball of energy, blazing across the stage and pounding out country-rockabilly insanity like nobody’s business. The Rev – not a real reverend, of course – earned his nickname thanks to a fellow who ran a place in Deep Ellum, TX, who declared, “Your music is like gospel!”

Indeed it is, and it will surely get you on your feet as he storms La Zona Rosa tonight for a spectacular New Year’s Eve bash, starting around 8 p.m. Opening the show is the equally legendary Austin-based Motley Crue of string bands, the White Ghost Shivers. The number to call for info and V.I.P. goodies is 1-866-IGETTIX (443-8849).

The faint of heart need not apply. This show will blow you away, friends! Happy 2009!
