Eleanor Whitmore Plays Tonight at Stubb’s Indoor Venue

December 17, 2008 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

The apple does not fall far from the tree, or so the saying goes. That’s appropriate for a talented musician like Eleanor Whitmore. Her mother is an opera singer, and her father is a guitarist and folk music artist. Little wonder that Whitmore can master the fiddle and the violin. One moment, you’ll find her performing in a string quartet, then another time, you just may see her mastering the mandolin at a rock show. It’s the best of all worlds!

Whitmore has had experience performing with some of the best musical artists, from Diana Ross and Andrea Bocelli, to Ray Wylie Hubbard, Jack Ingram and Regina Spektor. Then, the time was right for solo a project. Her debut album, Airplanes, produced by Son Volt guitarist Chris Masterson, was released in September 2008.

In support of her album, Whitmore is on tour and making a stop for a show tonight in Austin at Stubb’s indoor venue, 801 Red River, accompanied by Masterson. The show starts at 10 p.m.
