EELS: “Christmas is Going to the Dogs”
EELS frontman, Mark Oliver Everett, a.k.a. ‘Mr. E,’ or simply, ‘E,’ writes songs that wallow in emotional contradiction. Much of Everett’s songwriting reflects his wry wit and often melancholic demeanor (for a great look into Everett and his unique posthumous relationship developed between E and his father, check out this documentary).
This ‘Christmas‘ song is no different. One part holiday cheer, one part cynicism, ‘Christmas is Going to the Dogs‘ is sure to excite some sort of emotional response on the heals of this Christmas.
