December 5, 2008: Eliza Gilkyson

December 5, 2008 11:07 am by: John Aielli

Iconic folk singer Joan Baez recently chose Austin’s favorite folk songstress Eliza Gilkyson’s “Requiem” and “Rose of Sharon” as songs to cover on her latest studio album. And that’s not surprising, considering that Gilkyson’s songs often stretch back to the roots of Americana and folk music, leaving listeners feeling like they’re home again. This month, there will be several chances to catch Gilkyson with the Grammy-nominated choral group Conspirare here in Austin. Hear Eliza Gilkyson live in Studio 1A on Eklektikos.
