Bill Callahan in Studio 1a
Until recently, Bill Callahan performed under the moniker Smog. The first album released under his own name, Woke On a Whale Heart, won high praise from critics last year. Callahan moved to Austin in 2007, and with musicians like Johnathan Meiburg and Thor providing backup, I’d say it’s been a pretty good move.
