The Hot 8 Brass Band: “Rock with the Hot 8″

The Hot 8 Brass Band blends funk, soul and jazz with traditional New Orleans brass. Their profile was raised recently after their inclusion in Spike Lee’s, When the Levees Broke, a documentary about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

This tune, called “Rock with the Hot 8,” is a great song for a Friday. The band recorded this piece live at KUT. It is a danceable number that will put you in the right state of mind for the weekend.
