The Black Angels: “Haunting at 1300″

Austin’s own, The Black Angels, got their name from a Velvet Underground tune (The Black Angel’s Death Song). And their sound is no doubt looking to the past.

Recently, the band has worked with ‘the Godfather of Psychedelic Music,’ another Austin native, Roky Erickson, to refine their already haunting brand of rock and roll.

Haunting at 1300” is an unreleased tune the band has been performing live for only a few months. They dropped by KUT last week to put this one down. And as a result of recordings like this, The Black Angels have all but solidified themselves at the forefront of modern psychedelic rock.
