November 6, 2008: Dirty Dozen Brass Band

November 6, 2008 2:10 pm by: Jay Trachtenberg

The devastation of Hurricane Katrina seemed to only invigorate the Crescent City’s most popular brass band. Formed in ‘70s New Orleans, the Dirty Dozen revitalized the brass band tradition, mixing R&B with classic instrumentation and a bold repertoire. 2006’s What’s Going On? was an interpretation of Marvin Gaye’s classic, recognizing the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Stomp your feet and raise the roof with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band live in Studio 1A Thursday at 2:00 p.m. before their show at Antone’s Thursday night.
