November 21, 2008: Stanton Moore

November 21, 2008 11:59 am by: Kory Cook

New Orleans-based drummer and bandleader Stanton Moore honed his astounding chops in the proverbial woodshed as a student of Crescent City funk-drumming giants Zigaboo Modeliste of the Meters and skin wizard Johnny Vidacovich. His original and powerful approach to soloing, leading and pushing horn players and keyboardists to their musical limits is unprecedented. Hear Stanton Moore with friends and contemporaries Robert Walter on the Hammond B3 and Will Bernard on the guitar live in Studio 1A Friday morning on Eklektikos with guest host Kory Cook before their show at The Parish as part of Funk Fest 2008 Friday night.
