Ben Kweller: “I Don’t Know Why”
Ben Kweller grew up in the Dallas suburb of Greenville. His father, Howard, taught Ben to play the drums when he was just seven years old (Ben explains that his dad just needed someone to jam with). As a teenager in the early nineties, Kweller formed a trio called Radish, but the band fizzled after two independent releases.
Kweller began his solo career at age 19, when he moved to New York City. This tune, called “I Don’t Know Why” was recorded live at KUT. It appears on his eponymous 2006 release. Kweller’s fourth solo LP was recorded in Austin immediately following his ACL Festival performance in 2007. It’s slated for release in early 2009.
