The Rosebuds: “Life Like”
North Carolinians Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp, better known as The Rosebuds, initially hit the scene as an alt-country outfit. But a more brooding indie-rock sound has shined through on recent albums, and given The Rosebuds a signature darkness.
The married couple signed to Merge Records in 2003, and has just released its fourth full-length, Life Like. Songs like the title track carry a buzzing bass line, which contrasts beautifully with the duo’s harmonies.
