Lackthereof: “Last November”
Danny Seim is probably best known as the drummer for the Portland, Oregon indie-rock band Menomena. But Seim started his music career in 1997, writing and producing songs by himself under the moniker Lackthereof. Now backed by the “major-indie” label, Barsuk, Seim has produced an album of Lackthereof tunes called Your Anchor.
Lackthereof is a mix of the Menomena-style, off-time tempo changes and a buzzier, straightforward pop sound. On songs like “Last November,” Seim creates an accessible bass groove and complements it with synth and keyboard accompaniment.
