KAL Performs Tonight at The Cactus Cafe

Belgrade band KAL was first formed by the Ristic brothers, Dushan and Dragan, as a way to confront the prejudices and clichés faced by the Roma in Yugoslavia.

These are musicians who obviously hold a deeply rooted respect and pride for the traditional sounds of Gypsy folk music, but they embrace many other influences that come their way from around the world. As a result, they’re able to share their Roma culture by presenting a mix of traditional and urban sounds.

KAL has a performance at 8 p.m. tonight at The Cactus Cafe, 2247 Guadalupe, at 24th and Guadalupe.
