John Hammond Plays Tonight at the Cactus Cafe

October 10, 2008 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Let the skies storm and the earth crumble. None of it will stop John Hammond from playing the blues.

Before you go rolling your eyes at that last statement, keep in mind that this is no blues hobbyist, but an accomplished and truly dedicated musician. Traditional blues is not merely a style of music for Hammond; it’s a way of life. This legendary performer, with 40 years of performing and more than 30 albums to his credit, has been blowing away audiences with one of the most intense and passionate solo acoustic sets ever experienced on stage. He’s played with great artists such as Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker and Howlin’ Wolf.

You won’t want to miss Hammond’s show at 8:30 p.m. tonight at The Cactus Cafe, 2247 Guadalupe, at 24th and Guadalupe. Special guest Dana Falconberry will start the evening off.
