ACL ‘08 Artist – Tegan and Sara: “The Con”

Tegan and Sara Quin got their big break when they won a battle of the bands competition in their native Calgary, Canada. The identical twin sisters have since released five studio albums and have toured with the likes of Neil Young and Weezer.

Their latest release, The Con, is a delicate mix of catchy, confessional-style love songs and intricate instrumentation. It was produced by Chris Walla, the guitarist and producer for the indie-rock group Death Cab for Cutie.

But the songs work just as well live as on the album. The twins dropped by KUT last year and showcased their skills. Songs like the title track are laden with pop hooks and the sisters’ signature vocal harmonies.
