Song of the Day

Drew Smith’s Lonely Choir: “Nilsson Sings Newman”

Drew Smith’s Lonely Choir is a band spearheaded by local indie songwriter Drew Smith. Smith admits he’s heavily influenced by artists like Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson and Paul Simon.

Today’s song of the day is a testament to that influence. It’s a tune Smith and his Lonely Choir performed live here at KUT last week. It’s called “Nilsson Sings Newman,” and it’s the first song to the band’s brand new eponymous album, out on Fat Caddy Records, which hits music stores today.

And you can check out Drew Smith live on Thursday night, September 11th, at the Continental Club on South Congress.
