The Laughing Celebrates Release of New EP Tonight at Club DeVille

August 22, 2008 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Austin band The Laughing combines the seemingly-contradictory into something uniquely contemporary on their latest EP, Jungle. They’re trademark synth-driven pieces have moved toward a different direction after their 2007 debut, Tiger Cry, with the addition of a multitude of varied instruments: Flutes, glockenspiels, clarinets, djembes, dulcimers, saxophones – you get the picture. All of this results in a stronger yet simultaneously softer dissonance that works impressively.

The Laughing has their EP release party tonight at Club DeVille, 900 Red River. The limited first edition of their EP will include hand painted CDs from a large mural by Austin artist Bryan Keplesky, which will be painted live at the show.

Tonight’s show includes performances by The Cari and Jason Band, and Magic Surprise.
