Pompeii Headlines the Show Tonight at The Mohawk

August 26, 2008 9:25 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Layers of beautiful, sophisticated instrumentation are a signature of Austin quintet Pompeii. The blend of guitar, bass and drums go hand in hand with the classical sounds of the cello.

The band had already established a loyal fan base before they made waves at a showcase during South by Southwest 2005. Eyeball Records proprietor Alex Saavedra loved their performance so much, he invited them to his label at that very moment. They released their debut full-length CD, Assembly, in 2006. Now, Pompeii is gearing up for the release of their second album, Nothing Happens For A Reason, on October 7.

They headline the show tonight at The Mohawk’s indoor stage. The bill includes performances by Denton-based indie-pop quartet Gazelles, and Austin rock-pop band Wine and Revolution.
