Kristy Kruger Performs Tonight at The Cactus Cafe

August 12, 2008 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

After six years of touring across the United States, Kristy Kruger sat herself down on a second-hand couch and wrote the songs of her fourth album, Songs From a Dead Man’s Couch. The previous owner of said furniture had passed away, hence the intriguingly morbid title, but that’s a mere sliver of an example of her untraditional approach to her art.

The gifted composer tells tales of her life experiences through a mingling of folk, rock and roots styles, a sort of Texas-tinged Americana meets New Orleans-style jazz, fusing both with an electronic essence, which Kruger describes as “Americtronica,” adding a darker touch to the entire deal.

Kruger has a performance scheduled tonight with songwriter Graham Weber at the Cactus Cafe, at 24th and Guadalupe, on the UT campus. Opening the show is Dylan Sneed. This is one show you won’t want to miss.
