Carmen Rizzo Performs Tonight at The Parish

July 31, 2008 6:00 am by: Laurie Gallardo

Carmen Rizzo has made waves as an underground artist, and he’s been a two-time Grammy nominee. You can find his name in quite a few album credits under several titles: Producer, mixer, programmer, or cowriter. Artists like kd lang, Seal, Alanis Morissette, Pete Townshend (yes, that Pete Townshend), and groups like Coldplay have had Rizzo on board for a number of projects.

Then, there are all his accomplishments as a solo artist. Rizzo’s first album, the beat-driven and atmosphereic The Lost Art of the Idle Moment, found critical acclaim, as did his 2008 project, Ornament of an Impostor. Rizzo also cofounded the world beat and electronic fusion trio Niyaz with artists Azam Ali and Loga Ramin Torkian.

Rizzo has a show tonight at The Parish, 214 E. 6th St. Things will get started with performances by Austin trance artists Govinda.
