Swervedriver On Reunion Tour, Playing Tonight at Emo’s

On May 22, 2008 UK band Swervedriver played their first show in 10 years. They’ve embarked upon a reunion tour that includes a stop here in Austin tonight for a show at Emo’s.

Swervedriver was actually formed in 1990 (not in ’99, as the sound clip here says), and they were often compared to bands like Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. – some critics even went so far as to mention The Who, in some cases. But nine years later, before things really began taking off from their underground roots to a more mainstream success, the band went on hiatus due to problems with record labels.

But Swervedriver never really went away. You can see them tonight on Emo’s indoor stage. Doors open at 8. Also on the bill are Glasgow rock band Terra Diablo, Austin’s own distortion artistes Ringo Deathstarr. Killer triple bill, kids. Don’t miss out.
