Austin Music Minute

Raised By Pandas at Clementine Coffee Bar Tuesday Night

Singer-songwriter Anthony Salerno was a musician in Brooklyn. His career was a mishmash of cover band gigs and performances of his original work at other times. It dragged on for a decade, and Salerno actually made the decision to walk away from music for awhile.

You can imagine things got interesting when Salerno took up welding to make a living. He was even a circus performer for a time. But music is his true calling. He and his family packed up and headed out to Austin, where inspiration returned and he was back on track. His musical project is called Raised By Pandas – it’s usually just Salerno and his guitar. Occasionally Mel Ziolkowski will step in to provide drums.

Salerno has a show coming up tomorrow night at Clementine Coffee Bar, at 2200 Manor Rd. Also performing that evening are folk artist Will Wallace, and Tandem Dilettantes. It’s a lovely way to start your week.
