Dale Watson Performs At The Continental Club Tonight

June 30, 2008 11:01 am by: Laurie Gallardo

You really get the feel of it on Dale Watson’s 2007 release, From the Cradle To the Grave – that classic, true blue country western and honky tonk vibe that many have said evokes the spirit of Johnny Cash. It’s that authentic tone that makes Watson’s music so timeless.

But Watson prefers to avoid most preconceived notions, especially when describing his music style. He’s even coined a name for it, “Ameripolitan,” a sort of nonsensical genre he’d refer to whenever anyone asked him to explain what he was doing. Why explain it, though? If it needs explainin’, you just don’t get it, do ya?

This is a great way to begin this short work week. Make plans to see Dale Watson tonight at The Continental Club on South Congress. He’s on stage at 10 p.m.
