Ladies Rock the House Saturday In Honor of Latino Music Month

May is Latino Music Month, and this weekend, las mujeres step up to the mic to show how Latinas rock the house.

The Austin Latino Music Association has teamed up with the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau to present a variety of showcases throughout May to raise awareness of all brands of Latino music, and its many contributions to the Live Music Capital of the World.

Chicas del Barrio is one of those showcases, highlighting a variety of Latina artists who make music in several different genres, everything from traditional to contemporary. The showcase is this Saturday night, starting at 8 p.m., at Jovitas on S. 1st St.

Featuring performances by:

• Eva Ybarra y Su Conjunto

• The Texana Dames

• Cerronato

• Bocastria

• Melinda Hernandez

• Sister Sister

• Frenetica

• Gina Chavez
