Off the Record

Jay Trachtenberg

Jay Trachtenberg is our favorite afternoon music host here at KUT. Even if he is from California. Jay’s been spinning records at radio stations all over town for the past 20 years. But after all those years and all those tunes his favorite album has stayed the same: Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan.

Hey Jay, just heard the Calexico show. My latest musical find is Chris Gaffney who died in 2008. Dave Alvin did a memorial album called “Man of Somebody’s Dreams.” One of my favorite Chris Gaffney covers on this album is by Calexico, “Frank’s Tavern” — beautiful.
