Billy Joe Shaver From Studio 1A – October 9, 2007

October 9, 2007 11:14 am by: John Aielli

True Texan Billy Joe Shaver’s debut album in 1973 was produced by Kris Kristofferson and came shortly after Waylon Jennings recorded Honky Tonk Heroes, an album composed almost entirely of Shaver’s songs. Five years later, Johnny Cash covered “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal,” a song Shaver wrote after giving up drugs and booze and turning to God for help. Since 2000, Shaver’s released a half-dozen studio recordings and live compilations, including a recording of songs written by late son Eddy Shaver. Listen in on an intimate set of conversation and song, from Eklektikos with John Aielli.
