Terry Allen – September 5, 2007

September 5, 2007 2:58 pm by: Jay Trachtenberg

The music of West Texas songwriting icon Terry Allen defies categorization. As a symbol of the Lubbock, TX country scene, Allen’s progressive and contemporary take on the region’s traditions is supremely evident on his prized recordings since 1975. Associations with Joe Ely, David Byrne, Lucinda Williams and many other notables have expanded his musical horizons over the years. A new release called the Best of the Sugar Hill Years provides the greatest of Allen from his mainstay label. Don’t miss Terry Allen, with son Bukka and fiddle great Richard Bowden, live Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. on Music with Jay Trachtenberg.
