Ray Benson & Asleep at the Wheel Live From 1A
Austin’s Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel remain the reigning kings of western swing and Texas country music. Since 1970, Benson and Co. have managed to preserve the classic country sounds while updating the music. This year’s Reinventing the Wheel takes on staples from Louis Jordan, Johnny Mercer and Mose Allison. Asleep at the Wheel and Willie Nelson are scheduled to perform this Friday at the Backyard as part of the Austin Freedom Fest. Benson will pull over with the band and stop by Studio 1A for a live performance Wednesday at noon on Music with Jay Trachtenberg.
