Papa Mali Live – August 29, 2007
While touring with reggae kings Burning Spear and the Killer Bees, bandleader, slide guitarist and producer Malcolm Welbourne earned the moniker ‘Papa Mali’ from his bandmates. The personification is a salute to his home territory of north Louisiana, where he developed an attachment to the dirty, swamp funk’n’roll of the Crescent City. Hear Papa Mali and his trio performed songs from his new recording Do Your Thing live in Studio 1A on Music with Jay Trachtenberg.
