July 20, 2007 12:21 pm by: John Aielli

Raul Martinez Malo was born in Miami, FL and raised by Cuban parents. His diversely influenced music and sweet, beautiful voice are both uncompromised. Under Malo’s leadership, country group the Mavericks released their successful debut in 1990, introducing them to Nashville. In the late ‘90s, Latin and Cuban rhythms began to make their way into the fold of Malo’s music. By 2000, Malo joined Los Super Seven as a lead vocalist and songwriter. This year’s After Hours features Malo lending his own sense of sophistication to Country and Western classics. Hear Raul Malo for a live solo acoustic session with John Aielli Friday July 20, 2007 on Eklektikos.
